Nike’s Festival of Sport, a four-day event held at the Shanghai Stadium in August 2011 and 2012, is considered the largest sporting event in China since the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Liquid Impact was contracted to participate both years. The event, aimed at promoting international sports in China, has drawn tens of thousands of visitors and hosted top celebrity athletes.
Both years, the event covered an array of sporting activities, including everything from basketball to football to archery. In 2011, Liquid Impact was in charge of the infrastructure construction and was involved in the campaign’s design and production. In 2012, Liquid Impact constructed an indoor skate park. Design and construction materials were selected to consider factors such as sports professionalism, appearance, safety, outdoor weather conditions, audience flow and access, venue protection, and so on. Although faced with many obstacles, including Typhoon Muifa in 2011, the Liquid Impact team completed the project by means of a well-planned schedule, a stable back-up contingency plan, optimal quality control, and a cooperative spirit.
